T&C is 4-0 in Thursday Night picks this season! We’ve got a (surprisingly) significant ACC game this week…
Spread: Florida State -3.5 @ N.C. State
The Pick: Florida State -3.5
After suffering an early season loss at Big XII powerhouse Oklahoma, where the Seminoles looked helpless, Florida State has rattled off five straight wins including a dominating performance against in-state rival Miami.
N.C. State started the season out hot, winning their first four games and taking out two 2009-10 BCS teams in Cincinnati and Georgia Tech. Since they have gone 1-2, stumbling against Virginia Tech and East Carolina.
I think we can all agree that it is a down year in the ACC. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not as bad as the Big East, but it isn’t exactly in line with the other power conferences. The Wolfpack hasn’t faced a defense like they will face tonight against Florida State and FSU’s athletic secondary should be able to control NC State’s 7th ranked passing attack. The Seminole stoppers have only allowed 60 points in their last five outings – for all the math majors out there, that’s 12 points per game.
Don’t sleep on the FSU offense either. They are led by senior quarterback Christian Ponder and running back Chris Thompson is averaging over 7 yards per carry this season. I almost feel too comfortable with this pick: take Florida State and give the points.
