On the heels of a Thursday night win and in celebration of the battle for the Paul Bunyan trophy in the Great State of Michigan this weekend, T&C is going with five picks instead of just one. There are a lot of good choices this weekend:
Penn State -7 v. Illinois – Last week PSU got thumped by Iowa and the Illini surprised everyone by hanging close with Ohio State. I think Illinois’ performance against the Buckeyes was more of a fluke than a statement. The Nittany Lions freshman quarterback Robert Bolden has been tested (and failed) in two big-time environments – at Iowa and at Alabama. He’s going to be getting more comfortable with the system and will have the offense rolling against an inferior Illinois team. Take Penn State and give up the points.
Arkansas -5 v. Texas A&M – Arkansas is going to roll here. Texas A&M is just not very good – this was apparent in the Oklahoma State game last Thursday. At home, I expect the Hogs to roll by two scores, so giving up 5 points is a small toll to pay.
Auburn -6 @ Kentucky – Auburn has Cam Newton. Conversely, Kentucky does not have Cam Newton. No reason to think Cam won’t win by a TD.
Georgia -10 v. Tennessee – Interesting. When I made my post on Coach Mark Richt earlier this week the line was at -12 and grew to -13.5 at some books. Now we’re back down to 10. I’m thinking Georgia’s offense will get on track here and I have no issue betting against a defense that can’t figure out how many players to put on the field. Georgia by two TDs at home.
Michigan State +4.5 @ Michigan – Michigan hasn’t beat anyone all season and their defense is horrendous. My lips are sealed on this aside from that. Take the Spartans and the points. GO GREEN!

Well it looks like the Illini have taken the long awaited step from “bad” up to “mediocre,” and as an Illini fan I’m happy about that. You better think twice about taking the Spartans again next week. I’m not expecting an Illini victory, but they’re just a hard team to peg right now. They’ve beat the spread two weeks in a row.
Nice win by the Spartans. I enjoyed it more than the Illini game.
